About the KJ Boothcast

Recorded in the one of the most popular karaoke bars in the San Francisco Bay Area, the KJ Boothcast was born from an idea to base a sitcom around the joint.
A mix of charismatic employees, alcohol, and music sets the tone for an environment where the terminally shy, the outgoing attention whores, and passive voyeurs are all satisfied.  This environment also breeds stories that are too surreal to make up… as well as breeding the kind of humor and contempt that can make for great entertainment.

And for those that aren”t in-the-know; A KJ is a “karaoke jockey,” or the person that determines the song queue and keeps the party going.  It just so happens that the usual band of characters were, at some point, all KJ’s:

castbjBrent
Originally hired as a security guard to tame the typically raucous crowd, but is now the KJ on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and every-other Friday.  He also plays the ringleader in the circus that is the Boothcast, and is one of the most notorious “Faux-nadians” in the Bay Area.

castdaDanny
Originally hired as a security guard around June of 2006. Eventually promoted to KJ in December of 2006 and left the bar to persue a career in broadcasting. . He enjoys Jamison Whiskey straight and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Giants games and talking.

castvpVu
Initially hired as a KJ in May of 2006, Vu is now slinging libations behind the bar every Sunday and Tuesday night.  Vu’s hobbies consist of singing ladies out of their panties and eating tiny dogs.

castmbMatthew
Our resident wine-drinking, hat-wearing, smack-talking KJ – Matthew has worked at Encore for over five years.  He did not claw his way up from the bottom either (security detail)…seeing as he does not like to get his hands dirty…and he can’t fight.  But he can crush you with his vicious rhetoric. Matthew works on Saturdays and Sundays 4-8pm and Monday nights 8 to closing.
